Reds | Homer Bailey tosses no-hitter
Cincinnati Reds SP Homer Bailey threw a no-hitter Tuesday, July 2, against the San Francisco Giants. It was his second career no-hitter, and he has now accounted for each of the past two no-hitters in Major League Baseball. Bailey needed just 109 pitches, and he struck out nine batters. In the ninth inning, he hit his highest velocity of the night with a 97 mph fastball to strike out pinch-hitter Tony Abreu. It was the first time the Giants have been no-hit since April 2003 against SP Kevin Millwood, then of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Fantasy Tip: Bailey's next scheduled start is set for Sunday, July 7, against the Seattle Mariners. He will be working to join former Cincinnati Reds P Johnny Vander Meer as the only player to throw no-hitters in back-to-back starts.
