Dodgers | Close to dealing for Carlos Marmol
The Los Angeles Dodgers are close to a deal for Chicago Cubs RP Carlos Marmol, according to two sources. Marmol was designated for assignment by the Cubs June 25. He has a limited no-trade clause, and the Dodgers are one of six teams he can block a trade to. Marmol is owed more than $5 million on his $9.8 million deal for this year, and the Dodgers would be paying some of the remaining money he's owed. He went 2-4 with a 5.86 ERA in 31 relief outings for the Cubbies this year, striking out 32 and walking 21 in 27 2/3 frames.
Fantasy Tip: Marmol wouldn't have much of a chance of pitching in meaningful innings for the Blue. They already have a closer locked into the ninth in Kenley Jansen. Maybe he's worth a flier in deep NL-only leagues in hopes that the change of scenery suits him?
