Red Sox | John Lackey rejuvenated
Boston Red Sox SP John Lackey appears to be a new man physically now that he's 100 percent healed from Tommy John surgery. During his win over the Colorado Rockies Wednesday, June 26, Lackey's fastball was topping out at 95 mph, and he attacked hitters ferociously. Two-thirds of his 98 pitches were fastballs, and nine of his 12 strikeouts came on swings and misses. "The Tommy John surgery, the rehab, the reshaping of the body -- it's almost like we're looking at a different guy in a couple of ways," said manager John Farrell. "His stuff doesn't tail off as it might have early on when he signed here. He's always been a tenacious competitor, we continue to see that every time he walks to the mound."
Fantasy Tip: Now that Lackey's velocity is back, he's more confident in attacking hitters and throwing strikes. He has more of a margin for error, too. If you're desperate for pitching and haven't already done so, it's time to add Lackey.
