Angels | Peter Bourjos, Mark Trumbo sitting

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Peter Bourjos (thumb) wasn't in the starting lineup on Thursday, June 27, for the third straight game. He said the swelling in his bruised left thumb has gone down considerably and remains hopeful to play this weekend.

1B Mark Trumbo, who has been struggling, also sat on Thursday. "I don't know if it's a timing issue, but he doesn't look as comfortable in the batter's box as he did before," said manager Mike Scioscia. 2B Howard Kendrick was in the cleanup spot. Scioscia wasn't sure whether he'd stick Trumbo back in the cleanup spot when the slugger returns to the lineup on Friday, June 28, against the Houston Astros.

Fantasy Tip: The Halos believed originally that Bourjos could avoid the DL, but hand and finger injuries of that nature tend to linger because to test them well requires extensive BP and the like, so they turn out to be overly optimistic. His owners should already have been making contingency plans just in case. Trumbo has gone through spells like this before. Considering that he's one of the club's most productive hitters, any change in his scenery is almost certainly temporary. Perhaps his window as a sell-high candidate has passed, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
