Mets | More on Zack Wheeler
Updating a previous report, New York Mets pitching coach Dan Warthen said SP Zack Wheeler had different arm angles on his pitches against the Chicago White Sox Tuesday, June 25, leaving them able to lay off some of Wheeler's tougher pitches as a result. "They took a lot of good breaking balls, so there's a good chance they recognized it early," Warthen said. Wheeler allowed four runs and four hits while only striking out one in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision.
Fantasy Tip: Wheeler showed more examples of why his breaking pitches must improve in the big leagues for him to succeed. He won't be able to rely on an overpowering fastball all the time. He's worth owning in all leagues, but temper your expectations.
