Braves | Dan Uggla experiencing vision problems
Atlanta Braves 2B Dan Uggla is enduring some problems with his vision. He's having his eyes examined by a doctor Thursday, June 20, per assistant hitting coach Scott Fletcher, who left open the possibility of Uggla eventually having Lasik surgery. "There's certain balls and stuff he said he wasn't seeing well," Fletcher said. "At times he's flinching on balls that are good pitches and it's like, 'Why am I not seeing that ball better?' So we'll see how it goes with that."
Fantasy Tip: Uggla's strikeout problems over nearly his entire career say his eye health isn't the only problem, but this physical setback could explain the depths he's reached this year. He'll have to miss some time if he undergoes the surgery this season, but most owners may already be benching him. If he comes back, he could hit better, making a decent buy-low candidate for the desperate.
