Vikings | Chris Kluwe release was performance-based

Minnesota Vikings special teams coach Mike Priefer said he felt "very strongly" in his postseason evaluation of former PK Chris Kluwe that the team needed to move on from him in 2014. "It was more consistency and productivity," Priefer said in a response to a question about what factors, statistical or otherwise, contributed to the decision. Kluwe had a career best net average of 39.7 yards on 72 punts last year, but that ranked him only 17th in the league, and the team ranked 31st in punts inside the 20.
