Indians | Chris Perez has mechanical problem
Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez (shoulder) is feeling healthy but is dealing with a mechanical problem that led to him allowing five runs and five hits (three home runs) in 23 pitches in his second rehab outing with Double-A Akron Tuesday, June 18. Pitching coach Mickey Callaway and bullpen coach Kevin Cash think Perez is opening up too early in his delivery, which is hurting his velocity. Perez will throw Friday, June 21, and he'll likely need another rehab appearance. Manager Terry Francona said Perez won't be activated from the disabled list after a bullpen session Friday.
Fantasy Tip: This is good news for Vinnie Pestano owners, even if Perez returns at some point next week. It gives deep mixed owners more reason to hang onto Pestano even when Perez returns to ninth-inning duties.
