Tigers | No immediate plans to trade for RP

Detroit Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski said he has no immediate plans to trade for a reliever who would replace RP Jose Valverde as closer. "Papa Grande has had a rough 10 games, but he was solid before then," Dombrowski said. "His velocity is still good. Yesterday, his fastball was up to 94, 95." Dombrowski cited a lack of dominant closers in the game as a reason that he's not exploring his options on the trade market.

Fantasy Tip: If Valverde doesn't put together a string of clean outings soon, Dombrowski could change his story. The righty has a 4.15 ERA but a highly respectable 1.04 WHIP in 17 1/3 innings. The problem has been home runs: five allowed in that span. Perhaps there's some correction due, and his stuff has looked good at times, but Valverde is awfully deliberate on the mound and occasionally becomes predictable because of how much he relies on his four-seamer. We'll see.
