Mets | More on Ike Davis
New York Mets 1B Ike Davis has worked with Triple-A Las Vegas hitting coach George Greer before. In the past few weeks, Greer has dissected video and conversed with New York hitting coach Dave Hudgens about Davis' problems. "So basically mentally he's totally [messed] up," Las Vegas manager Wally Backman said about Davis. Backman also said he thinks Davis has made too many changes to his swing that need to be fixed. "There's an in-between where he's squatting and he's so spread out," Backman said. "To me when he's that spread out, he's so strong anyway, but you still have to transfer your weight. When you're that wide, you can't transfer your weight. Get him into some happy medium."
Fantasy Tip: Deep-leaguers who are willing or must take a chance could stash Davis if they can wait out his hitting rehabilitation. There's nothing but upside from here on out.
