Cardinals | Chris Carpenter throws
St. Louis Cardinals SP Chris Carpenter (shoulder) threw around 25 pitches to live hitters Thursday, June 6, and he said he wasn't as sharp with his mechanics as he was the last two times out. He's currently on a "long program" during his rehab and isn't close to returning. "I thought he threw well," manager Mike Matheny said. "He looked angry. It's always nice to see him back to his usual form. He's a perfectionist, so when he sees something a little bit off he's not going to be happy about it. I thought his stuff looked good. It had real good sink, the breaking ball looked tight."
Fantasy Tip: Until Carpenter goes out on a minor league rehab assignment, his miraculous return to the team won't really start becoming a reality. A setback along the way could be disastrous, so banking on him to contribute to your fantasy rotation later this year is foolish. Only stash him in deep leagues if you have the space.
