Blue Jays | Jose Reyes making progress
Toronto Blue Jays SS Jose Reyes (ankle) hopes to start a rehab assignment in a couple of weeks, and manager John Gibbons thinks Reyes can meet his three-month timetable to return. Reyes is wearing a brace that he plans to use for the rest of his career to help stabilize his ankle, and he doesn't think it'll affect his speed or ability to move in the field. "I'm still going to have my stuff. I'm very confident in myself that I'm going to come back stronger," he said. "I feel that if I'm not 100 percent, but if I feel like I can help this club at 85-90 percent, I'm going to be on the field." He's been swinging a bat for a week but must run the bases and field groundballs on back-to-back days before he can play in games again.
Fantasy Tip: You'll have to continue to be patient with Reyes. It looks like he's ahead of schedule, though, which is good news to his owners. Munenori Kawasaki will continue to hold down the fort at short in the meantime.
