Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia has torn thumb ligament
Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (thumb) has a complete tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb. He suffered the injury in the first game of the season. Pedroia plans to continue playing through the injury, and it will not cause long-term damage.
Fantasy Tip: This will be a pain management issue the rest of the season. Judging by his season to-date, he can perform pretty well with the injury. He's hitting .338 with three homers, 28 RBIs and eight steals. He probably won't touch his career high of 21 homers, but he could approach the 15 he hit last season. There is also the chance that he aggravates it, and the pain becomes so severe his hitting mechanics change. It's a slippery slope, but we think he can continue to perform at a high level.
