Tigers | Anibal Sanchez loses no-no in ninth inning

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez was searching for his second-career no-hitter Friday, May 24, against the Minnesota Twins, but C Joe Mauer broke it up with a clean single in the top of the ninth inning with one out. He also took a no-hitter in the seventh inning last season against the Cleveland Indians. Sanchez still finished with a complete game shutout, walking three and striking out 12 batters. He needed a career-high 130 pitches to finish off the victory.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez has two double-digit strikeout performances this season, and he has eight or more punchouts in seven of his 10 outings this season. He has five complete games allowing one or fewer hits, most in the majors since 2006. When Sanchez is dialed in, his stuff is among the best in the game. His next scheduled start is set for Wednesday, May 29, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
