Twins | Mike Pelfrey, Samuel Deduno still on schedule

Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey is slated to start Sunday, May 26, against the Detroit Tigers, even though his start Tuesday, May 21, against the Atlanta Braves lasted only two innings because of a 76-minute rain delay. Manager Ron Gardenhire didn't rule out the possibility of moving Pelfrey up, though. For now, SP Samuel Deduno is still scheduled to be recalled in time to pitch on Friday, May 24.

Fantasy Tip: AL-only fantasy managers who were hoping to get a start from Deduno this week may turn out to be disappointed, but the Twins' rotation is loaded with long-term concerns -- specifically, about performance -- so Deduno, along with Kyle Gibson and P.J. Walters, is a candidate for a trial at some point in the near future, regardless. Minnesota would seem to have little incentive on the surface to push Pelfrey in the righty's first season following Tommy John surgery, anyway, so this is probably just talk.
