Phillies | Roy Halladay has surgery
Philadelphia Phillies SP Roy Halladay (shoulder) underwent arthroscopic surgery and a debridement of his labrum and rotator cuff Wednesday, May 15, and he could start a throwing program in six to eight weeks. Halladay also had his inflamed bursa sac removed. He's likely to be out at least until after the All-Star break. Halladay is 2-4 with an 8.65 ERA in seven starts this year.
Fantasy Tip: Halladay can probably be dropped in shallow mixed leagues. In deeper formats, though, it's at least worth considering whether you'll leave him on a DL spot for later in the season. There is a slight chance that this surgery can fix some of the mechanical issues he was dealing with and make him effective later this year. If you're willing to wait and find out, tuck him away.
