Angels | Owner: Mike Scioscia's job safe for now
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim owner Arte Moreno said the chances that his organization would make an in-season replacement of manager Mike Scioscia are "right now, zero." Scioscia is one of the game's highest-paid skippers and has a deal that runs through 2018, so there is significant disincentive for the owner to fire him, per Jon Paul Morosi. Some observers also believe that Moreno would fear the possibility that the Los Angeles Dodgers may eventually fire Don Mattingly and could then hire Scioscia. The owner of the Angels wants to avoid doing anything that would help a market rival. When asked about the theory, Moreno denied that the scenario would affect his decision.
Fantasy Tip: The Halos clearly need something to change. Perhaps it's not personnel, but they need to figure out what that is soon, or it'll be virtually impossible to compete in a tough AL West. SP Jered Weaver (elbow) may be a boon to the club's awful rotation but won't be back for a few weeks. The dynamic of PT could change, eventually, if the Halos don't pull out of this dive, so fantasy owners should be on alert.
