Red Sox | Joel Hanrahan has strained forearm

Boston Red Sox RP Joel Hanrahan (forearm) strained his right forearm Monday, May 6, and he'll undergo an MRI exam Tuesday, May 7. "I felt like I threw the pitch and felt a little pull, like my forearm went a little bit with the ball. I felt like I could still throw the ball all right. I was like, 'All right, maybe that stretched it out a little bit, see what happens,' but eventually I got to the point where I tried to make a pickoff (throw) to first, and the ball barely got there. I threw one more, and I just couldn't take it anymore," he said. Hanrahan has a 9.82 ERA in nine appearances this year.

Fantasy Tip: John Farrell has named Junichi Tazawa as the closer with both Andrew Bailey and Hanrahan injured. It's very possible that Hanrahan will land back on the DL now, too, so it's probably now safe to drop him since Bailey will likely be back before Hanrahan is eligible to return. Tazawa needs to be owned in all leagues now, and Koji Uehara is even worth an addition in most leagues for his skills alone.
