Royals | Billy Butler being patient
Kansas City Royals 1B Billy Butler has been a bit frustrated that he's not seeing many good pitches to hit this year, but he's doing his best to stay patient and not chase balls out of the strike zone. He currently leads the team with 18 walks and a .414 on-base percentage. "It's all about avoiding outs," he said. "I'm not going to go out of the zone. That's the mentality I have to have -- that I'm not going to go out of the zone. But it's a consistent battle every day. I want to be aggressive." The problem is that the team's hitters behind Butler are hitting a combined .209 on the year.
Fantasy Tip: Butler's average has suffered this year in the early going as a result, but he's still extremely valuable in on-base-percentage leagues. If the hitters behind Butler make teams pay, he will start to see better pitches, likely.
