Red Sox | Daniel Bard to be regular
Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said RP Daniel Bard will become a regular member of the team's bullpen after they promoted him from Double-A Portland Wednesday, April 24. Bard hadn't allowed a run in his last five outings for Portland, and his fastball was sitting between 93 and 96 mph. "I think it's a matter of maintenance, not wholesale adjustments by any means," Farrell said. "It's a matter of repeating a delivery that's natural to him, and when he does he's been successful." The plan is to use Bard early in relief innings.
Fantasy Tip: Bard seems to have fixed his mechanics enough to achieve consistency that will make him successful again in the majors, albeit in early relief appearances. The Red Sox, even without Joel Hanrahan (hamstring) are set in the backend with Junichi Tazawa, Koji Uehara and Andrew Bailey.
