Dodgers | Ted Lilly in limbo
Los Angeles Dodgers SP Ted Lilly (shoulder) declined a minor-league rehab assignment, declaring himself ready to pitch in the major leagues after recovering from shoulder surgery. The club disagrees. "We laid out a plan and, obviously, he just didn't like the plan," manager Don Mattingly said Sunday, April 14. "From a baseball standpoint, we felt he wasn't quite ready for what we want him to do, to start."
Fantasy Tip: The team can activate Lilly, designated him for assignment, release him or trade him. The team cannot keep him on the DL indefinitely, and they do not seem to have a role for him. If he is moved, or somehow finds his way onto the rotation of the Dodgers or another team, he would be worth adding in fantasy leagues. For now, his fantasy appeal is minimal.
