Dodgers | Zack Greinke to have surgery
Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (collarbone) will undergo surgery Saturday, April 13, to place a rod in his clavicle designed to stabilize and align the fracture in his collarbone. He is expected to be out for eight weeks.
Fantasy Tip: Greinke could theoretically be out longer; it just depends on when he actually starts throwing again following his procedure. The good news is that the injury is to his left collarbone and away from his right shoulder. Greinke owners will have to make do without him for two-plus months. In the meantime, it'll either be Ted Lilly, who is currently rebuilding strength in his left shoulder in the minors, or Chris Capuano taking the vacant rotation spot.
Lilly may be the favorite after he tossed 90 pitches with Triple-A Albuquerque Wednesday night. The team also feels his shoulder is better suited as a starter than reliever. Lilly or Capuano, whomever gets the spot, is worth adding in deep mixed and NL-only formats.
