Cardinals | Mitchell Boggs still the closer
St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny indicated that he thinks it's too early to make a change away from RP Mitchell Boggs as the team's closer after he was charged with six earned runs in one-third of an inning against the Cincinnati Reds Monday, April 8. Boggs walked four (two intentional) and called the appearance "the worst outing of my career."
Fantasy Tip: Matheny isn't overreacting here, so you shouldn't either. However, even though Rosenthal wasn't very sharp in the eighth inning in that same ball game, he should be owned in pretty much all leagues in case Jason Motte (forearm) needs season-ending surgery. Rosenthal is the better long-term closing option this year despite his lack of experience.
