Padres | Chase Headley progressing
San Diego Padres 3B Chase Headley (thumb) said Sunday, March 24, that he was encouraged that the swelling he had earlier in the weeks has mostly subsided. Headley is expected to have X-rays Monday, March 25, to check how his fracture is healing, and he is expected to have periodic X-rays and tests to check the progress. He said Sunday that he will start lifting weights, running and possibly riding an exercise bike to increase his level of cardio, and there is a chance he might take one-handed swings in the batting cage.
Fantasy Tip: Headley is still expected to miss Opening Day, and he could very well be sidelined for the entire month of April. Jedd Gyorko is expected to start at second base, with Logan Forsythe filling in for Headley at third base.
