Yankees | Derek Jeter back on field
New York Yankees SS Derek Jeter (ankle) took part in batting and fielding drills Friday, March 22, since being scratched from a game Tuesday, March 19, with stiffness and soreness in his left ankle. "I understand the plan, but I also understand plans change sometimes," Jeter said. "Let's see what happens. I'm here today. Let's see what happens tomorrow. When I'm ready to play, I'll play." Jeter is hoping to play in a minor league game as soon as Saturday, March 23.
Fantasy Tip: It's good news that he's back to performing baseball activities already, but we won't know his chances of being ready on opening day until he plays in several minor league contests. There is still a very good chance that Jeter opens the year on the DL. Stay tuned.
