Red Sox | David Ortiz won't rush back
Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz (heel, Achilles') said he won't rush back from his latest setback. Ortiz did not take batting practice Monday, March 18, but he's been jogging on an underwater treadmill and doing "all kinds of stuff" with trainers and therapists. There is no timetable for when he will return to the field. Ortiz said the previous pain in his Achilles' is gone, and he hopes to be fully healthy by mid-April or early May.
Fantasy Tip: Everything points to Ortiz opening the year on the disabled list at this juncture. Once he does return, it may be a while before he's at full speed. Also, the injuries to his feet could hamper him throughout the season and cause his power production to drop off dramatically.
