Dodgers | Zack Greinke throws
Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (elbow) played catch Friday, March 15, making 63 throws starting at 60 feet. Greinke's session appeared to go well, but manager Don Mattingly confirmed that the window is shrinking for Greinke to be ready for opening day. He extended to 90 feet Friday and appeared to increase his velocity, and he's expected to be limited to playing catch for the next few days before moving to a bullpen. Greinke has thrown only five spring innings and would likely only be able to start in two more games from here on out.
Fantasy Tip: Next week will be the true test in Greinke's progression. With Mattingly indicating that Greinke will need to be at the same level as the other starters, it seems as though he's posturing for the possibility that Greinke opens on the DL. After all, the Dodgers are blessed with starting-pitching surplus in Aaron Harang, Chris Capuano and Ted Lilly. They have the luxury of being cautious with their big-money signing in Greinke.
