Dodgers | Josh Beckett changing approach
Los Angeles Dodgers SP Josh Beckett has started throwing less fastballs the older he gets with his velocity dropping to 91 mph last season. Last year, he threw his fastball less than half of the time and focused more on offspeed pitches. "His stuff may not be the same dominant-type stuff. But again, what's he doing? Making adjustments," manager Don Mattingly said. "His changeup is getting better. That's what pitchers do that really know what they're doing. They'll keep changing speeds, whatever they have to do." Beckett has thrown eight shutout innings this spring with nine strikeouts and a walk. He has worked with former SP Sandy Koufax this spring on his delivery and working more with his curveball and changeup.
