Red Sox | Daniel Bard's first appearance delayed

The Boston Red Sox planned to use RP Daniel Bard in the Grapefruit League spring game against the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday, March 1, but instead he spent the day working on his delivery outside of a game situation with pitching coach Juan Nieves. "We're just trying to work out his lower half, more stride direction, so he had a work day just throwing on a line where there's some lateral type drills where we're trying to get that stride direction consistent," manager John Farrell said. The new plan is for Bard to throw a bullpen session Saturday, March 2, and then pitch in a game Monday, March 4.
