Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers NT Antonio Garay is the most apparent situation where the team can create additional roster and salary cap space in 2013. He signed a two-year contract in 2012 that paid a base salary of $825,000, with a $750,000 signing bonus. In 2013, his base salary is $3.5 million with an additional $1.5 million bonus if he's on the Week 1 roster. None of that $5 million is guaranteed, so a release would clear the books for the team, leaving only $375,000, the prorated sum of last year's signing bonus, in dead money against the cap moving forward.
