Nationals | Ross Detwiler wants to get better early in count

Washington Nationals SP Ross Detwiler, who threw first-pitch strikes only 60.5 percent of the time last year, has made it a point to get ahead of hitters this spring. He also wants to use more four-seam fastballs, curveballs and changeups early in the count to throw hitters off. When he got ahead of hitters last year, they had a slash line of only .199/.227/.303 against him with 80 strikeouts and nine walks.
