Cubs | Matt Garza expected to be ready
Chicago Cubs SP Matt Garza (lat) is expected to be ready for the start of the season despite the fact that he still doesn't have a schedule for his next bullpen session. "Obviously it's close, but it looks like it's going to happen if he gets back tossing in the next few days or so," manager Dale Sveum said. "You've got five weeks from today (before Opening Day)." Sveum doesn't plan on announcing his opening day starter until the third week of March. The team has an off day April 2, which means they could hold Garza back an extra week.
