NFL | Geno Smith has plenty to gain

West Virginia QB Geno Smith explained his team's struggles last season, saying inconsistency set in. He learned from the experience, and plans to carry it over to the NFL. "When we went through that (inconsistent) stretch, I was the first one to stand up in front of the team and let them know we're going to work even harder and we're not going to put our heads down," Smith said Friday, Feb. 22, at the NFL Scouting Combine. "That's the one thing I take from that experience is that being a leader, you're not going to deal with fair situations at all times." Smith has plenty to gain Sunday, Feb. 24, when quarterbacks throw, especially with Southern California QB Matt Barkley (shoulder) resting.
