Blue Jays | Josh Johnson has polished curveball
Toronto Blue Jays SP Josh Johnson has learned to have a more balanced attack when going after hitters instead of trying to overpower them like he did before, and a polished curveball is now part of that approach. Johnson scrapped his curveball shortly after arriving in the majors and he focused more on a slider. However, he changed that thinking last year after his fastball lost some velocity. Johnson experimented with his curve last spring, but he didn't really start using it until further into the season, and he used it only 15 percent of the time. "All of a sudden I started throwing it for strikes and then I wouldn't use it enough. Then I started using it more, more, more and that's when I started getting the hang of it," Johnson said. He's slated to serve as the fourth starter this season.
