Athletics | Dan Straily thinks he should have rotation spot

Oakland Athletics SP Dan Straily said Friday, Feb. 15, that he is in camp for one reason, and that's to win a job in the rotation. He believes that is where he belongs. "There are only five spots, and I can do the basic math. There are more than five guys. It's something that pushes all of us to be better each day," Straily said.

Fantasy Tip: Straily figures to be battling friend SP A.J. Griffin for the fifth rotation spot behind SPs Brett Anderson, Jarrod Parker, Tommy Milone and, most likely, Bartolo Colon. Only Detroit Tigers Ps Max Scherez and Justin Verlander, Kansas City Royals SP James Shields, then of the Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw, Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez, and Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey, then of the New York Mets, had more strikeouts in professional baseball. Straily will be interesting to watch in camp. He is a nice sleeper in AL-only fantasy formats.
