Angels | Prefer Josh Hamilton hitting behind Albert Pujols
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia prefers to hit OF Josh Hamilton in the cleanup spot behind 1B Albert Pujols because has the better on-base percentage, and it would make sense for Hamilton to be hitting with Pujols on base. Scioscia doesn't think Hamilton, who saw the fewest percentage of fastballs last year (44.6) percent), will see more fastballs if he was hitting in front of Pujols. "I think it's just a function of how Josh was pitched," Scioscia said. "Sometimes the pitches (hitters) see is not going to be contingent on who's behind him, it's just going to be how guys are trying to pitch to them. And with Josh, I think it was more that case than anything else."
