Panthers | Jonathan Stewart had contract adjusted
Updating a previous report, in late January, the Carolina Panthers and RB Jonathan Stewart made a slight adjustment to his five-year, $36.5 million contract extension reached last August, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Stewart was scheduled to make $1 million in fully guaranteed base salary in 2013, and after the renegotiation he will have his base lowered to $715,000 with a $2.5 million signing bonus. The move actually increased his cap number for 2013 from $2.8 million to $3.015 million in 2013.
Fantasy Tip: More will be expected of Stewart this season, as the team is not expected to bring back RB DeAngelo Williams. Stewart might re-emerge as a decent RB2 in fantasy leagues in 2013 if he gets a lion's share of the totes in Charlotte.
