Dodgers | Carl Crawford working out
Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (elbow) is throwing up to 90 feet, hitting off a tee and hopes to move to live pitching in the next few days. Crawford is "confident" he'll be ready for opening day, depending on what the Dodgers "want to see." "I think I can hit the cutoff man, but I don't know if that's where they want me to come back," he said. "I think I'm an everyday guy, but I understand the thought of easing me back in." He has no pain in his elbow other than "just typical muscle fatigue," and his arthritic wrist isn't giving him problems, either. Manager Don Mattingly is prepared to use OFs Jerry Hairston Jr. and Skip Schumaker in a platoon in left field to start the year rather than rush Crawford. When Crawford is playing, he's most likely to hit leadoff.
