Nationals | Wilson Ramos close to 100 percent

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos (knee) is hitting in the batting cages and squatting behind the plate to receive pitches and is showing no ill effects from knee surgery. He said he'll only need to demonstrate that he can block balls in the dirt before he declares himself 100 percent healthy. Ramos has also been running but will need to build up more stamina to get back into baseball shape, and he's optimistic he'll be ready for opening day. The team plans to be cautious with him and work him in slowly with C Kurt Suzuki also on roster, and Ramos remains in the plans as a long-term option at catcher.
