New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said if the trade between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves involving OF Justin Upton had happened before the Chicago Cubs had signed free-agent OF Scott Hairston, the Mets would have had a greater chance of re-signing Hairston.
