Blue Jays | J.A. Happ the odd-man out
As of right now, Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ is the team's sixth starter after the offseason acquisitions of SPs R.A. Dickey, Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle. Happ isn't assured a spot on the active roster heading into opening day, so he's a strong candidate to start the year with Triple-A Buffalo. "The one thing I did tell J.A. is that I'm almost 100 percent certain that we won't go through the season with just five starters," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said. "We'll definitely need somebody else, so he has to continue to do his part." Happ could make the team as a reliever, but that option appears unlikely. Happ has handled the situation well and hasn't requested a trade.
