Red Sox | Mike Napoli dealing with necrosis
Boston Red Sox C/1B Mike Napoli (hip) is dealing with avascular necrosis, which, per Wikipedia, is a disease where there is cellular death of bone components due to an interruption of the blood supply. As a result, bone tissue dies and the bone can collapse. However, Napoli's agent said the issue was caught in the early stages, and Napoli doesn't have any symptoms. Both former NFL players Bo Jackson and Brett Favre dealt with this condition.
Fantasy Tip: This can't be good news for Napoli, and it's basically the main reason his contract was reworked to account for injury. However, there really is no way of telling how it'll affect him and his production over the short term. His long-term value may be a different story, though.
