Patriots | New forearm fracture for Rob Gronkowski
The forearm fracture that New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (forearm) suffered in the team's Divisional Round playoff game was not identical to the original fracture he had in his forearm on November 18, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The source said the injury "had nothing to do with whether the arm was ready or not" after speculation was that Gronkowski returned prematurely. The new break dealt with his arm breaking at the end of the protective plate that was put in his arm. The source said there is always risk to the area at the end of the plate because of a "collection of stress." Gronkowski's original break has since fully healed and was intact when surgery was performed Monday, Jan. 14.
