Nationals | Rafael Soriano signs

The Washington Nationals signed free-agent RP Rafael Soriano (Yankees) to a two-year deal worth $28 million Tuesday, Jan. 15. The deal includes a vesting option for a third season.

Fantasy Tip: Considering his paycheck, expect the new Nat to bump Drew Storen to setup duty. Soriano moves to the more favorable league, a comfier home park and the presumptive favorites for the NL pennant. However, the 33-year-old's average fastball velocity has taken a gradual dip, and if his breaking stuff betrays him, he'll struggle. He's a top-12 stopper, not top-five, but that conservatism doesn't erase his drawbacks. A handcuff is stretching it, but Storen remains a solid own in deeper mixed formats.
