Braves | Brian McCann expects to be ready
Atlanta Braves C Brian McCann (shoulder) expects to be ready to play on opening day after having offseason surgery on his right shoulder. Anchors were placed in the posterior portion of his shoulder and a labrum tear was also fixed during surgery in October. He will visit with Dr. Xavier Duralde Tuesday, Jan. 15, to see if he can resume playing catch at the end of the week. McCann might have to wait to swing a bat for another two weeks, though. "Being three months out of surgery, I feel like I'm ahead of schedule," McCann said. "I feel better each day, and I'm very encouraged by the signs that I have received recently. Now that I've had the surgery, I can tell a huge difference with my range of motion and flexibility. This is as free as my shoulder has been for a few years." He was initially believed to miss at least the first two weeks of the season.
