Yankees | Alex Rodriguez out until after All-Star break?
Updating a previous report, New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip) will undergo surgery on his left hip Jan. 16, and the surgeon who will perform the operation says "optimistically, he should come back after the All-Star break." It's uncertain how much cartilage damage Rodriguez has, and how much unfixable damage there is.
Fantasy Tip: With Rodriguez on the shelf for a good chunk of the season, 3B Kevin Youkilis is expected to open the season as the team's Opening Day third baseman, and he will fill that role as long as he can remain healthy himself. Rodriguez might be worth stashing away as a reserve or as an occupant of one of your injured spots, but only if he is nabbed in the final rounds on Draft Day.
