Jets | Testing the Waters

Updating an earlier story, the NY Times reports the New York Jets are expected to release LB Marvin Jones Tuesday. Jones and the Jets could not agree on how to restructure his contract. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Jones could return to the Jets. Rosenhaus spoke to Coach Herman Edwards and Ted Cottrell, the defensive coordinator, yesterday. "Marvin is very interested in returning to the team," Rosenhaus said. "But it's going to be after we test the open market. We're not closing the door on returning, but right now we're pretty far apart in what we're interested in. There's a mutual understanding that just because he's a free agent doesn't mean he won't be back with the Jets. And we'll talk more as free agency starts."
