MLB | Matt Bush expected to take plea deal in hit-and-run case
Updating previous reports, former San Diego Padres and Tampa Bay Rays minor league SS/P Matt Bush is expected to agree next week to a plea deal involving a prison sentence of at least three more years for a DUI hit-and-run accident March 22. Bush hit 72-year-old Tony Tufano's motorcycle and fled the scene, while driving a Dodge Durango owned by former teammate Brandon Guyer. According to police, Bush's blood-alcohol percentage was 0.18, more than twice the legal limit for drivers in Florida. He has spent nearly nine months in a Charlotte County jail and is expected to agree to the plea deal during a court hearing Tuesday, Dec. 18. The 26-year-old Bush was the first overall selection of the Padres in the 2004 MLB Draft.
