The Boston Red Sox are in agreement with free-agent SP Ryan Dempster (Rangers) on a two-year, $26.5 million deal. The deal is still pending a physical.
Fantasy Tip: Dempster's stint with the Texas Rangers provides a glimpse at his value as a Sawx pitcher. Some blow-up outings inflated his ERA, and Fenway Park plays neutral, especially compared to Arlington, but he remains in the DH league in a division that boasts ample offensive talent. Taking him as anything more than a fourth or fifth starter in a deep mixed league is asking the vet to recapture his 2012 first-half magic from the National League, and doing so positions your squad for disappointment.
