Angels | Ryan Madson wants to close right away
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Ryan Madson (elbow) wants to have the chance to close out game right when the season starts, even though he may not be in full swing following his rehab from Tommy John surgery. "If there's a situation where it's back-to-back and it's not allowed, then that's fine. But if I'm available, I want to pitch in the ninth inning because that's where I think I've tuned my mentality. I've tuned just everything about the way I pitch to that inning. It is a lot different inning than the eighth," Madson said. He's currently making around 120 throws from 120 feet, which is on schedule in his recovery. He doesn't have a date set to resume throwing off a mound, but he hopes it'll be in early January, which will make him ready for spring training and opening day.
